A Late Night with Matt K.

So I've been super busy lately and it's only going to get worse in the next month, with nearly every week booked full of stuff.  That leaves little time to blog, but even when I do have time, I feel like the only thing I have to blog about is our lack of sleep from Miss Adeline...but not today.

Last night we went to see Matt Kearney in concert.  Love his new CD.  It was pretty awesome!  It's been a while since we had been to a concert, when I was preggo with Hakan, so over two years, wow.  Loved it!

I didn't bring my camera in, should of, but we tried getting a pic with my friend's phone, not the best, but you get the idea.

And this picture would be of me and Derek...can't you tell:)

We went with some friends of ours, Kirk and Chrystine.  The opening band was good too, The Leagues.  It was their last concert of the tour, I think they were excited to be done...the concert felt a little rushed, not a lot of small talk banter that I like with artists.

However, it didn't start until 8:30 p.m., so we didn't get home until 12:30 a.m.  WHAT?!!?  Yeah, SUPER late for us to be out and on a work night even.  I feel really old even saying that, but with two kids and one that doesn't sleep well, sleep is precious.  I kind of feel like a truck hit me today, might be an early night tonight.

We were up in the balcony and right before Matt came on some people moved, not sure why, but awesome, because we got some sweet spots and could see everything.  Throughout the concert there was this little boy, maybe 9 or 10, who was sitting on the steps to the stage off the side and singing and drumming along, so cute!  Then during the last song he came on and did some breakdancing, also adorable (but did I mention how late it was, hopefully he sleeps late).

I love concerts!  We live in a city where lots of tours stop, and I would love to go to more...but there's the cost of tickets, cost of a sitter, etc...so we only go once in a while:)

Anyway, exciting night for us:)

My next post will be a giveaway!!!!!!!

Beautiful Winter

Winter has always been one of my favorite seasons.

The glistening, sparkly, white snow, especially the first snow.
Steaming homemade hot chocolate.
Snuggling on the couch with cozy blankets.
Speeding down a hill on super fast sled (one of my first moments with Der).
Riding on a relaxing ski lift all the way up a beautiful serene mountain and snowboarding down with fast weaving energy, love it!
The crisp fresh air in your lungs.
Christmas music, Christmas trees, Christmas decorations, Christmas everything:)

However, having kids has kind of shifted my way of thinking about Winter.

I have a two year old with more energy than I even know what to do with or handle.  We won't just be able to go outside to burn off some energy whenever we want.  Not that he doesn't love to go outside, even when it's -0 out, but I can't bring little Adeline out in that.  I am just imagining seven months of being stuck inside...yuck.

For the first time ever, I've thought about moving somewhere warmer, crazy I know.  I grew up in North Dakota, come on!  But to have weather you could almost always go outside in with little ones is soooo enticing.

There is stuff to do here in the winter.  We can go to the zoo, it has some good inside stuff.  There's always the Mall of America....not really somewhere I like to go often though.  The Children's Museum is pretty sweet, but a little spendy.

I think I'm going to have to get super creative with activities to get us through this winter.  I'm taking it as a challenge.

I'm also determined to get Hakan on some skiis, he'll do great, they're only hills around here:)
I love when there's no wind and the leaves just fall off the tree and pile up underneath it, so pretty.

I'm so sad to see this nice weather leave, but I'm going to try and stay positive with winter fast approaching.

Halloween 2011

We had a wonderful Halloween weekend.  Get ready for some pictures, I just couldn't help myself:)

On Saturday, we went to the zoo, it was Hallzooween weekend there, so we dressed the babes up and off we went.  Hakan wore a Viking's uniform that was Derek's and Adeline wore a onesie that was Hakan's and I made her orange and white polka dot skirt, bow and tutu, and I found some adorable little black kitty shoes which stay on for 2.5 seconds:)  It was actually pretty nice out and not super busy:)

Then we carved some pumpkins, Hakan thought it was pretty cool (just ignore our crazy messy house in the background, note to self, clean up before doing a project involving pictures:).  Hakan's pumpkin is making the same face as him.

Then, just like we did with Hakan two years ago, we put Adeline in a pumpkin, she did pretty well until we had her sit all the way down in it.

Then on Monday we went trick or treating at the Mall of America.  We got there right when they started and there weren't that many people until later, so it was nice just going from store to store.  This was Hakan's first time, he didn't start saying trick or treat until we got home, but he did catch on to if I hold my bucket out  they'll give me something.  We also went two years with him not really knowing what candy was.  He's had occasional M&M's and some other stuff, but not very often...I think we've now created a monster:)  I even got a picture of him at the Viking's store getting some goods.

We ended the evening with some Chipotle and frozen yogurt.
Fun Halloween:)
