A little of this and that

You'd think with the 50 some days of below zero weather, I'd have more time to blog...
Well, now that the temps have been so amazing, the snow is melting, and we can see our driveway again, I'm catching up :)

I decided to sew myself a birthday gift with all these beautiful fabrics, a little crazy, but I love it!  AND there are four big pockets inside, one big one on the outside with a magnetic snap, and a zipper closure, super fun to make.

Hakan (with a little bit of help from mom), made these adorable salt dough magnets for his little classmates for Valentine's day.  He actually did all the cutting, stamping and writing.

I had macarons for the first time last year, crazy, I know, and they were so good, chewy with a light crunch on the outside, yum!  But they are pretty expensive to buy, so I tried my hand at making some vanilla bean ones, they turned out so delicious and beautiful.  I get why they're expensive, cost of ingredients and time, but a lot cheaper to make yourself for sure.  Next, I'm going to try some other flavors.

I also bought myself some $7 flowers from Sam's Club to bring a little cheer into our home, they actually lasted nicely for over two weeks!

I turned 30 in February, dun dun dun.  But really, just another birthday, and doesn't really bother me, just another year wiser, right?  Derek made me this cake (this picture does not do it justice) last year too, I think it's the best cake I've ever had, absolutely amazing!  Look at all the little layers, I'm definitely craving it right now.

During these cold days, we have taken lots of trips to the Tropics at the MN Zoo, just to get out of the house and warm up.

Hakan had parent's day at preschool and Derek was actually able to come as well.  It was so cute to see what he does there and how he interacts with other students and teachers.  It was also his turn to be Star Child.  He helped make this poster and had to present it to the class, which they actually did before we got there, but his teachers said he did great!

We had a friend's birthday party at Pump it Up, which has lots of ginormous inflatables.

And this picture pretty much sums up most of our days this winter.  As soon as your kids are old enough to play together, they also fight together, just as much :(

I haven't really been creating as much, which isn't good.  My mind works best when it's being creative and being able to use my hands feels great!  It helps take away some of the crazy in my life as well.  So I've been trying to sew something once a week, even if it's just something small.

As pretty as this is and as much as I really do love snow, I'm excited to see it gone and soon!
