Sambazon and a Giveaway!

Mom's Meet gave me the opportunity to sample Sambazon juice with some of my mom friends.

Just the Facts:
"Sambazon juices and smoothies are made with the finest organic Amazon Superfoods on the planet, such as Acai (ah-sigh-ee), Acerola (ah-sir-o-la), and Yerba Mate (yur-ba mah-tay).  They are available in ten different flavor varieties, and packed with antioxidants and healthy omega 3-6-9s.  They are NON-GMO, USDA organic, vegan, gluten-free, and provide whole food nutrition."

The juice we sampled as a group was the Acai with Blueberry + Pomegranate.  It was pretty tough to actually find the juice in a store, which is my only negative about it, and this was the only flavor they had. But I thought it was very tasty.  I ended up blending mine with some ice to make it extra yummy, and I LOVE that it's 100% juice!  Who doesn't need some extra antioxidants?!  I'd love to try the other flavors when I can find them.

The feedback given to me by my other mom friends, was to blend it with some ice, and possibly be a little sweeter (there isn't any added sugar), otherwise, the consensus was, yummy!  My kid's loved it as well...Adeline even has a little juice mustache:)

For more Sambazon info, check out their site, facebook, twitter, pinterest and instagram.

Jenny & Tyler date night

We got tickets to a Jenny & Tyler concert last year, but had to go out of town, we were so disappointed, we LOVE them and their music.  So a couple weeks ago, they added a house show to their tour in St. Paul, and I bought some tickets, yay!  I didn't realize that it was on Mother's Day, but a treat for me:)

It was our first house show, and they were so perfect in person, we love them even more now:)

One of my favorite songs!

This was a sing-a-long, so sweet.  It's actually Derek's head in the bottom right corner, ha!

They are so sweet and funny, and I even bartered a cute t-shirt for an Anchored Hope item, sweet! (They're expecting a baby in July)

You can download some of their songs from noisetrade here, make sure to leave a tip.  Show some love and like their facebook page.

Hope you check them out:)

Girl's Weekend!

You guys, driving in a car, by myself, able to listen to whatever I want, stop whenever  I want (even if I have to stop to pee twice in 4 hours), with no one giving me that "really?" look, it was awesome!!

Three of my super good friends from high school and I, try to get together a couple times a year.  One lives in KS, one in SD, one in ND and I live in MN, so it's kind of in the middle to meet in Sioux Falls, SD, and Kristy so generously hosted us at her house.  It was the first really nice weekend and couldn't have been more perfect.  We kind of go into these with very little planning, that way we can just do whatever works:)

My wonderfully amazing husband watched the kids all weekend long, thanks baby!

Jenni and her husband are expecting their first baby in August, so we had a little surprise baby shower.  These cupcakes were seriously delicious and cute...I may or may not have eaten two, girl's weekend right?  We also got some pedicures, forgot to get pics though.

Brunch at a local diner...girl's weekend is all about food, catching up and relaxing.

Glorious afternoon spent outside at The Falls.  Bonus, getting to see all the high schoolers in their prom dresses taking pictures:)  In honor of prom, our prom, 11 years ago:)  Not too dated...but maybe I'm just in denial, still love my dress:)

This is probably one of my favorite pictures to date.  I love these ladies so much!  Missy, second one from the right, is expecting her second baby, two preggo's in our little group, love it!

Then I got to come home to this, my sweet little ones.  I love getting away, it's good for my soul, and I love coming home:)

keeping busy this snowy spring

You have to get creative when it's still snowing in April...

We love Ikea, especially with friends:)

Just pretending it's nice out.

They still get excited when it snows.

The only way I can get him to not run around crazy and knocking thing over, a mama's gotta do what a mama's gotta do.

Derek made fun of me for this one, Hakan's really been into drinking tea lately and he hadn't finished it yet that morning, so we brought it with to the zoo...Derek said it kind of looks ridiculous:)

Bird show at the zoo, with some friends.

My mom and sister, Sammy, came for a weekend so she could register for her fall classes as a freshman at Bethel, what?!  We are soooooo excited that she's going to be close to us, yay!!!  Can't wait!

We do love ice cream!

The last snowfall...hopefully.

Making Yogurt

We have wanted to try and make our own yogurt for a long time now, but didn't want to have a yogurt maker taking up more priceless space in our tiny kitchen.  We decided to take the plunge and give it a go.  We ordered this one from Amazon, not too bad and it'll pay for itself and save us money.  We figured it to be $.16 for a 6 oz jar, versus $1 or more when you buy it at the store.  It's SO easy too!!

First you boil some milk.

Then cool it to lukewarm or under 95 degrees.

Stir the yogurt starter or jar of plain yogurt in with some of the milk and then mix it with the rest.

Poor into the jars, plug in the yogurt maker, which just keeps it at a constant warmer temp.

10 hours later, smooth, creamy and delicious yogurt! Just refrigerate for a couple hours before eating.   I add a little honey and fresh berries, so good!  We're still experimenting with different milks and then we'll venture into other flavors.

I'm glad we tried it:)

night out with friends

This actually happened a month ago, just behind a bit.  A friend's church was offering childcare for couples to go out, perfect!  We don't have family in the area which sometimes makes it difficult to go out.

Also, Derek surprised me with this awesome key necklace from The Giving Keys.  It's a really cool business that employs those who want to transition out of homelessness.  My key says Grace, and I need to give it away someday to someone else who might need it:)  Love it, and love my Derek!

We had three hours to do what we wanted to do.  First, we ate at Mccormick and Schmick's, we had a gift card:)  They have pretty good sea food, if you like that sort of thing...I am open to trying a few fishy things, but it's not my favorite, I had a really yummy chicken cajun pasta.  Good food and great conversation.

Then, of course, we went to Pumphouse Creamery, for the most amazing banana ice cream, among others.  Plus, right across the street, is a super cute fabric store, Sewtropolis, bonus (not so much fun for the guys, but good sports)!

Our friends, Kirk and Chrystine, riding in the back of our mini van, we ride in style people. (Derek and Kirk have been friends since wee little kids in ND)

Our scruffy mini van chauffeur.

It was a great night out, besides the church having to call us 10 minutes after dropping off the kids to say Hakan had an accident...he just went on the potty before we left, too much fun I guess.
