A True Mother's Day Weekend

I had a true Mother's Day weekend, ups and downs, laughing and crying.  We had one of "those" days that just happened to be on Mother's Day.

But first our perfectly wonderful Saturday.

Hakan slept until 8:30, so nice.  We had one happy boy...and papa.

We went to two different bakery's, don't judge, they were right across the street from each other and the one claimed the best cinnamon and caramel rolls, yes on the caramel rolls:)  We love finding new bakery's, to have our own is somewhat a dream, a french patisserie, mmmm.

Then off to Como Zoo to see all the animals, we really love zoo's.  They have completely different animals than the MN Zoo, our favorite at Como, all the primates; gorillas, orangutangs, tamarinds, spider monkeys, they are all just so adorable!
It's getting more and more difficult to get a picture with this little one:)

We made a pit stop at Trader Joe's, then to Rusty Taco for a little lunch.

Then a family nap, nothing better.

We played outside and grilled some burgers.

Hakan painted a total of six cards for his four Great Grandma's and two Grandma's, he has a lot of grandma's.

A really wonderful day:)
(Minus the washing machine lid falling on my nose, making it swell and hurt).

Then there was Sunday, Mother's Day.

Hakan went to bed a little later the night before and woke up a little earlier, which equals not a happy camper.

We went to church, Hakan made me the cutest little mug filled with flowers, I love it!
I LOVE this picture!
Got home to eat lunch, Derek wanted to make us lunch...I couldn't stay out of the kitchen, I just wanted to help, I should've stayed out of my baby's way and let him do what he does best.

Meanwhile, Hakan is soooo tired and hungry, so he's whiny and getting into everything.
Classic:)
He does not want to go down for a nap, but then sleeps for 2 1/2 hours, did I mention he was tired:)

I had to get some laundry done, Derek's softball stuff was still dirty from last week.  Hakan had leaked on his pillow the night before so I washed that and the washer kept getting off balance.

I was loading the dishwasher and a bowl slipped and chipped two of our good dishes, first time in the six years we've had them...I'm so mad at myself.

I talked to my mom and sister after they picked my G'ma Jenny up from the hospital in ND.  It's the first time I've thought she's not all there and it breaks my heart.  She's all alone, my sister and I and her nephew are her only relatives and we all live over 100 miles away from her.  I had to have a conversation with her nephew about what we need to do next, assisted living?  I don't know.  This should be my dad's responsibility, he passed away 2 1/2 years ago, but he and my g'ma weren't speaking anyway.  I pray that she finds Jesus and His love for her.  I also pray that He gives us wisdom on what she needs.

My thoughtful Derek did bring me a chocolate custard sundae with peanut butter topping after his softball games, my favorite.  The cherry on top of my Mother's Day:)

This weekend pretty much summed up what being a mom is for me.  There are always going to be ups and downs, but the precious up moments make up for the down moments.  I have so much love for my family I can't even put it into words, like the love that Jesus has for me.
This is how we know what love is:  Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.  And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.  1 John 3:16

The joy and love I feel as a mother and wife consume my being.  I thank God for the many blessings in my life, without Him, I would be nothing.

Happy Mother's Day Mama's:)
